Shayan Italia’s debut single Reflection has entered the top 10 of Britain’s popular TV Airplay Music Chart, weeks before his album is officially launched.
It placed fourth, after Foo Fighters (The Pretender), Mark Ronson Feat. Amy Winehouse (Valerie) and Kanye West (Stronger).
Championed by the UK’s largest radio station BBC Radio 2, Shayan Italia’s debut single REFLECTION is released on Monday Nov 5th 2007 in the UK through UNIVERSAL on iTunes, 7Digital, Napster, MSN, Tesco, Woolworths, HMV Digital, Virgin Digital, Wippit, Sony Connect, Amazon and Play.com
His album “SHAYAN ITALIA” is set for release in shops early 2008. Reviewers interpret its style as a true mix of various genres some including light rock, soft jazz, disco and pop.
Shayan says his music incorporates the three best elements of Indian music into his work “poetic lyrics, simple-yet-powerful music arrangements and crystal clear vocals.”
The 29-year-old Indian-born singer/songwriter self-manages his music, merchandise, marketing and funding, with impressive results. In 1999, he auctioned part of his future earnings on eBay and raised $18,000 USD in a week, before completing to raise a further $1,000,000 USD in October 2007 through private investors.

Time Out called him “A music superstar in the making” after he reached the top five finalists on VH1’s Song of the Year Contest. The Times, International describes him as a “Superb Vocalist” and Sir Tim Rice (Songwriters Hall of Fame) says his “lyrics are inspirational”.
But it is Neil Fox, who has the biggest breakfast show in the UK to date that sums it all up by saying “He’s the most determined artist I’ve ever met. He’s going to be hugely successful!”.
The University of Westminster graduate, who studied Music Business Management and Audio Engineering, came to England from India in the late 90s, after the death of his parents.
He is a devout Zoroastrian, after Freddie Mercury, a faith he says helps him stay focused and be positive, with its message being: ‘Good Thoughts. Goods Words. Good Deeds’
