Presswire buys ‘Kick Off’, forms Videowire

British media group Presswire has acquired the football TV news show ‘Kick Off’, launching its new multimedia arm, Videowire…

Videowire will produce the daily football news show ‘Kick Off’ from its London studio, in broadcast quality (16:9 SD and HD 720p) and online and mobile formats.

‘Kick Off’ currently sells to Norway, Finland, France, China, Indonesia and Malaysia in English and local-languages, but is now looking to extend its customer base among ISPs, websites, TV networks and betting organisations.

Richard Powell, Managing Director of Presswire (www.presswire.com) and Videowire (www.videowire.eu), says while ‘Kick Off’ has done well to establish itself across two continents in just two seasons, the best is yet to come…

“With Beckham drumming up interest for English football in the US and a growing following in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and South Asia, we’re confident we’ll reach a plethora of sports channels and websites there too.”

The show uses its own reporters in the north and south of England as well as experts and insiders from the British sports press, the FA, FIFA and UEFA to give viewers a broad but exclusive snapshot of the latest goings on in the Premiership.

‘Kick Off’ typically enjoys viewing figures in excess of 120,000 per site, per day: an audience Videowire wants to double in the first three months of production, starting on 1 August. The video report will now be packaged for clients with a text news story, complete with pictures, so it is web-page ready and optimised for search engines, such as Google.

As well as ‘Kick Off’, Presswire’s multimedia division Videowire will produce red carpet coverage from London for online and broadcast customers; and social and corporate events coverage.

Videowire’s parent company Presswire produced UKTV’s interactive TV output across 10 channels until 2005. The PR powerhouse’s clients include the British government and global technology, legal and financial firms.
